The Kings Ferry keeps the Catholic faithful on the move
The Kings Ferry was delighted to play a valuable supporting role in the Pope's historic state visit to Britain. It ensured Cardinals, Bishops and other important members of the entourage, as well as members of the public, reached venues at the right time, in comfort.
National Express was awarded this prestigious contract and The Kings Ferry was chosen to provide their expertise in managing the movements for the South. On Friday 17th September, luxury Kings Ferry VIP coaches arrived at Euston station in London to pick up a very special and highly distinctive group of passengers. The coaches were collecting Cardinals, Bishops and other members of the church who were connected with the Pope's visit.
For the next three days, these coaches provided relaxed and peaceful transport for the group during a packed schedule. The Kings Ferry VIP coaches are renowned for their comfort and Luxury.
In London, the group were taken from their hotel to St Mary's University College in Twickenham and then on later to a celebration of Evening Prayer at Westminster Abbey. The following day they attended the Mass in Westminster Cathedral and the open air Vigil of Prayer at Hyde Park before heading off that evening in their coaches to Birmingham. During this journey they enjoyed a two-course meal served on board the coaches.
Meanwhile, back in the South of England, other arrangements for the movement of people connected to the Pope's visit were beginning to swing into action. This, on a much larger scale, was arranged through The Kings Ferry's sister company Coach Hire Connections which specialises in coach travel management.
On Sunday morning, from locations across the whole of the South of England, a total of 218 coaches picked up members of the Catholic faithful wanting to experience for themselves the Pope's visit. They were driven to Cofton Park in Birmingham to join a crowd of more than 50,000 people attending the special Mass. Later in the day, they returned home on the same coaches.
Coach Hire Connections provides a single reliable source for coach hire with approved operators across the UK and was ideally placed to fulfil this huge requirement for coaches through one, efficient point of contact.
"We were delighted to play a small part in ensuring that this historic occasion ran smoothly and to help so many people take part in what was a once-in-a-lifetime experience," said Ian Fraser, operations director at The Kings Ferry. "Our involvement demonstrates our ability to provide specialist, high-quality travel for small groups, and equally to fulfil major contracts for hundreds of comfortable and reliable coaches at the same time."
